Having this blog makes me to write my own weblog software.
There are features I want but aren't yet in TypePad and I would like to code more (at work, I spend more time on the phone than coding), but in the scheme of things, writing weblog software for an audience of one doesn't seem like a good use of my time. But it would be fun.
Duncan predicted this inner conflict when I revived my blog. And writing his own blog software (Dan did as well) worked out well for him. If I did it, I would write it in Rails, which brings up the deployment question and which Rails host to use. As far as I can tell, there aren't any good ones (reliable and easy to use).
At least with TypePad, I don't have to worry as much about software bugs or uptime issues - they have a vested interest in making sure the service works and is available; paying customers, WordPress and Blogger make sure of that.
Oh well.
Yah. If it makes you feel any better--I continue to waffle. Some days I want to scrap it all and just use iWeb.

My vote is for iWeb with the skateboarder template.
