Caffeine Software, home of Curator, shutdown yesterday.
I am bummed. Curator is my favorite photo management application. It was the first one (and one of the only still) that does lossless JPEG rotation. It was the only one to export images to the tmp directory so you could attach easily to a mail message with no extra cleanup.
When I found Curator, I was relieved to know that I didn't need to write my own photo viewer - it covered all things I wanted.
Perhaps the competition from the free iPhoto was the undoing. I saw them as complimentary products - iPhoto handled printing and .mac integration better, Curator handled viewing and exporting better (except for movies, which iPhoto does remarkably).
I hope my copy of Curator continues to work for a long time...And I hope that Caffeine's principals and software find a new home soon.
